Tennessee-based pop-punk act Paramore notched their first Number One debut on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (October 7th). According to Tunelab Music, first-week sales of 185,000 copies were enough to rocket the group's third album, brand new eyes, past other new releases by Mariah Carey, Breaking Benjamin and Alice In Chains. We asked Paramore drummer Zac Farro if the band was feeling the pressure to top the success of their million-selling 2007 album, Riot!: ["There's obviously some pressure there, but we kind of tried to push that aside and just make a record we loved, and so we did that. There's always gonna be pressure and the fans might not like it and they might think it's too different or whatnot but, you know, at the end of the day we love it, so that's the best we can do."
IS DEAD BY SUNRISE'S CHESTER BENNINGTON TOO BUSY?
He's the leader of one band that's about to release its debut album. His other group is in the studio recording its fourth effort. He also runs a chain of tattoo shops and a clothing line, and is a father of four sons. Is Linkin Park and Dead By Sunrise frontman Chester Bennington doing too much? He told us he doesn't think so: ["I woke up this morning and I was just like, 'What have I done to myself? I'm tired! I need a nap.' But at the same time, you know, I love doing what I do, so I'll always be able to find time to work hard and do whatever I have -- and also, you know, raise, I have four boys at home, so you know, I guess apparently I don't really like sitting around and doing nothing very much."]
30 SECONDS TO MARS GIVING AWAY GUITARS VIA TWITTER
30 Seconds To Mars began a campaign on Tuesday (October 6th) to give away 30 guitars in 30 days via Twitter. According to a press release, the band is rewarding one fan a day with a brand new axe from Michael Kelly Guitars. All that fan has to do is send a tweet through a special application provided by Culture Jam. A different winner will be selected each day by the group members themselves.
