The United States has officially asked Switzerland to hand Roman Polanski over to authorities in California. The Associated Press reports that he could serve up to two years in prison for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl.
Authorities in Zurich, where the director was arrested on September 26th, will hold a hearing on an unspecified date to decide whether Polanski should be sent back to Los Angeles. The Associated Press reports that if extradition is approved, Polanski may appeal the decision to Switzerland's top criminal court and, "theoretically, to the Federal Supreme Court."
Despite reports that Colin Egglesfield and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz's time on Melrose Place was always borrowed, Egglesfield told E! that the news came as a surprise. The actor revealed, "[They said it] was a network decision and obviously the ratings aren't what they need or want them to be, so they're going to try things to shake things up."
Kate Hudson reportedly has her boyfriend, baseball star Alex Rodriguez, exploring Buddhism. A source told the New York Daily News that the actress's religion is "an important part of her life," adding that, "It seems like Alex really just wants to make her happy."
A witness sitting near Hudson at one of Rodriguez's recent games said that the actress even brought Buddha prayer beads with her to the stadium, and laid them across the railing in front of her seats. The spy noted, "It was a long strand of brown beads, and she and her friends would pick them up from time to time."
Jon Gosselin's lawyer claims the reality dad has complied with the court order he received last week and returned $180,000 he took from a joint bank account with his estranged wife Kate. Her lawyer, however, countered attorney Mark Heller's claims, saying that Jon had returned $28,500 but he was waiting for Heller to wire back the remaining $152,000.
Mark Momijan said after Heller's statement last week, "I have no doubt Jon's lawyer is making an accurate representation but I'm just waiting. He added that Kate was not required to return any money, but has otherwise "complied with the court order in advance of the date." It was reported last week that a second hearing would be held today (October 26th).
