Randy Quaid and his wife Evi failed to show up for a court date in California on Monday (October 26th). E! reports that hours before the duo was due to appear, their new attorney said they would not be there -- and would instead show up later in the week. The pair were arrested in Texas last month after allegedly running out on a $10,000 hotel bill. A felony warrant for burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy is outstanding for the couple, and if they don't go to court voluntarily, the extradition process will continue.
Shauna Sand has dropped a lawsuit aimed preventing the distribution of her sex tape. The co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment told TMZ.com that Sand -- the ex-wife of Lorenzo Lamas -- has signed off on the video and has withdrawn the cease and desist letter her lawyer sent the company earlier this month. He claims Sand had a change of heart after realizing that a lawsuit could prove "long and expensive."
Acclaimed director Kenny Ortega has pulled out of the upcoming Footloose remake. PerezHilton.com reports that Ortega -- the man behind High School Musical, Dirty Dancing, and the new Michael Jackson documentary, This Is It -- had problems with the film's studio about the project's budget and tone. An official statement announced, "Coming off the extraordinary project, Michael Jackson's 'This is It,' director Kenny Ortega has decided it is premature for him to commit to his next film and will not be moving forward with 'Footloose' as previously reported."
Jennifer Aniston is denying reports that she's interested in becoming a talk show host. London's Express newspaper had reported that the actress agreed to do a weekly show for Oprah's new cable channel, OWN when it launches next year.
Ricky Gervais has been tapped to host the 67th Annual Golden Globes in January. The British comedian addressed his appointment on Monday (October 26th), saying, "Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry, which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host. I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don't turn down."
This will be the first time the program has had a host since 1995. Generally a series of presenters move the show along by themselves.
People magazine reports that Gervais proved to be one of the highlights of last year's telecast when he cracked a joke about Kate Winslet having received an award for The Reader, whereas he wasn't recognized. The comedian quipped, "What did I tell you, Winslet -- do a Holocaust movie, win an award. That's the trouble with Holocaust films: There's no gag reel on the DVD."
