Alice In Chains has released "Check My Brain" as the first official single from the band's upcoming album, Black Gives Way To Blue. The song made its way to radio stations over the weekend and is also streaming online. Guitarist/singer Jerry Cantrell told us he wrote the song about moving from Seattle, where he grew up, to Los Angeles: ["There's a certain aspect of sarcasm, I guess, being a guy from Seattle who lives in L.A., ex-drug addict who lives in the belly of the beast and doesn't partake, and being totally cool with that. It's like being the bad gambler and living in Vegas. It's right there. It's just the irony of that and a little bit of sarcasm. And it's not putting this place down at all. It's just kind of like, 'Wow, you know, check my brain, wow.'"
Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington's new side project, Dead By Sunrise, has begun streaming its first single on its MySpace page. The track, called "Crawl Back In," is taken from the band's debut album, Out Of Ashes, due out on October 13th. The outfit recently shot a video for that tune as well as "Let Down."
Dead By Sunrise also features guitarists Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh, bassist Brandon Belsky, drummer Elias Anda, and keyboardist Anthony Valcic.
A Detroit area man accused by several people on Craigslist of selling fake tickets to a Nickelback concert was found dead in his home last Wednesday night (August 12th) of an apparent suicide, according to Mlive.com. Kyle Branum was found hanged the same night that the concert at the DTE Energy Music Theater took place. Branum allegedly bilked around 100 fans out of their money by selling them illegitimate tickets that were rejected at the venue doors.
