The first hurricane of the Atlantic season loomed far out in the ocean Tuesday, gaining power and moving on a track that forecasters said could take it close to Bermuda by the end of the week.

Hurricane Bill was expected to become a major storm in the next couple of days, with winds topping 110 mph


With the upcoming fall semester, college students will be able to take advantage of an additional location for Richard Stockton College.

For the Fall 2009 Semester, Stockton is offering three undergraduate courses at Saint Joseph's High School in downtown Hammonton.

The night courses are available to undergraduate students enrolled at Stockton, but are also available to the public on a per-credit basis.


A Houston-area mother convicted of mutilating her infant by cutting off his genitals two years ago was sentenced Monday to 99 years in prison.

But minutes after the jury's sentence was read, Katherine Nadal, 28, yelled out that she did not hurt her son, prompting the boy's father to storm out of the courtroom.


Federal safety officials investigating a midair collision over the Hudson River changed their account of the accident on a key point Monday, saying an air tour helicopter struck by a small plane wasn't initially visible on radar to an air traffic controller handling the plane.

The National Transportation Safety Board had previously said the controller failed to warn the plane's pilot of the potential for a collision with several aircraft in its path, including the helicopter, before handing off responsibility for the plane to another airport.
