Slipknot has canceled all its remaining tour dates in August and September following the hospitalization on Saturday night (August 22nd) of drummer Joey Jordison, according to Blabbermouth.net. Jordison was taken to a hospital for undisclosed "health reasons" on Saturday, forcing the band to cancel that night's show in Seattle. Although the group hoped to resume touring on Sunday (August 23rd), they've now made the decision to call off all live dates for at least the next month.
Fans posted footage on YouTube of an emotional Corey Taylor, singer for Slipknot, telling the crowd the bad news: ["We did everything we could to try and make this show happen, and we couldn't. It took right up until the last hour. I'm really sorry. I'm really, really sorry. The good news is, hold on to your ticket stubs because we are coming back to do this."]
Kings Of Leon received their first platinum album award this month for sales of more than one million copies of the band's fourth and latest effort, Only By The Night, according to FMQB.com. The group was also given gold and platinum certifications for the digital versions of their singles "Sex On Fire" and "Use Somebody," both of which were taken from the record. After six years, four albums and constant touring and work, drummer Nathan Followill told us that success has been sweet: ["If anything, it's opened our eyes to how much more work you have to do if your record's, you know, successful. But you know man, it's great. We feel like it's been a long time coming. It's so funny, we'd almost given up on the idea of ever, you know, being big, you know, especially in America. Then this record comes along and a song with the words 'sex' and 'fire' in it turns everything around. So who woulda knew.
The dates and venues for Buckcherry's 41-date fall tour as openers for Kiss have been unveiled, with the band adding a few headlining dates to its schedule to warm up before hitting the trail with the masked rock legends. Buckcherry will play five shows on its own, beginning on September 18th in Des Moines, Iowa, before linking up with Kiss on September 25th for the first of two nights at Detroit's Cobo Arena, where Kiss recorded its breakthrough concert album Alive! nearly 35 years ago.
The Kiss Alive 35 Tour will feature Kiss performing Alive! in its entirety along with other classics. The trek will tie in with the band' first new studio album in over a decade, called Sonic Boom, which will be available as an exclusive Wal-Mart release on October 6th. The three-disc set will retail for $12 and include a re-recorded greatest his CD and a live DVD in addition to the new effort.
Buckcherry continues to support its fourth studio album, Black Butterfly, which arrived last fall. The set's latest single is called "Talk To Me."
