Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel will hit the road this September for a reunion tour with his old band, Sunny Day Real Estate, but Mendel says he's also looking ahead to the next Foo Fighters record. The bass player told us that after taking most of the past year off, Foo Fighters should be getting back to work by the end of 2009: ["We're pretty much planning to start writing this fall or winter. We'll start working on new Foo Fighters stuff. So I think, I'm not sure how many of these Sunny Day tours we'll do, but that will probably wind down about the time that Foo Fighters is ramping up again. That's the way I anticipate it happening

Puddle Of Mudd has been out playing some shows this summer as a warm-up for the release of the band's fourth studio album later this year. Guitarist Paul Phillips, who rejoined the lineup this past spring after a four-year hiatus, told us that the record is finished and he's excited about the results: ["Yeah, it's finished. We finished maybe three weeks ago or so. We started in April and did, it was a total of six weeks, but it was spread out over the whole summer 'cause we were doing shows throughout it. Got some songs that I, you know, hope that everybody's gonna dig. I feel pretty good about it. It's definitely the best experience of making a record that we've had

Cage The Elephant singer Matt Shultz told RollingStone.com on Wednesday (August 19th) that it was two incidents that inspired the Kentucky-based band's single, "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked," which is currently sitting at Number Five on the Alternative rock chart. Shultz explained that the song's title came from a co-worker who was dealing drugs on the side, but wanted to stop. When Shultz asked why he didn't, the friend said, "There ain't no rest for the wicked." The song's lyrics were inspired by a 2006 incident in which Shultz picked up a young woman on a Kentucky road, only to find out that she was a prostitute. He said, "I wrote the song a couple days later."
