8am Headlines


The woman whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase and tossed in an Orange County trash bin has been identified as a 28-year-old former swimsuit model who disappeared over the weekend.

The victim, Jasmine Fiore, was last seen about 8:30 p.m. Friday at her home in Los Angeles and was reported missing Saturday evening by Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32, a Canadian, who is now a "person of interest" in the case.


On paper, it looks like a logistical nightmare - 500,000 to 600,000 people expected to descend upon the city for today's 2009 Atlantic City Airshow - but organizers of "Thunder over the Boardwalk" and Atlantic City police are working to make sure the crowds move efficiently.

More than 400 volunteers - 100 more than just two years ago - will be stationed throughout the city


Security forces captured the Pakistani Taliban's top spokesman, and he acknowledged the death of the group's leader in a recent U.S. missile strike, further signs the militants are in disarray since the American attack.

U.S. and Pakistani officials have said they were almost certain that the chief, Baitullah Mehsud, had been killed in the Aug. 5 strike


Blockbuster Inc. plans to offer movies that can be watched on Motorola Inc. cell phones. It marks the struggling rental company's first step into mobile video and is its latest effort at chasing down the customers that have abandoned its traditional video stores.

Blockbuster offered few details Tuesday on the plan, which expands on the company's OnDemand movie downloading service offered through set-top boxes for TVs.
