Rock News

Flyleaf has officially confirmed October 27th as the release date for the Texas band's sophomore album, Memento Mori. The disc will follow up the group's 2005 self-titled debut, which reached the platinum mark in sales behind more than two solid years of touring. It's been five years since Flyleaf wrote the songs for its first effort and guitarist Sameer Bhattacharya says the group has grown a lot since then: ["When you're our age, you know, five years is a long time. There's a lot of growth, you know, we've seen a lot from then 'til now. We've traveled the world, you know, we've been with bands that we grew up listening to. We've learned a whole lot about songwriting, you know. We have a broader perspective of the world and the people in it. So there's a lot of maturity, there's a lot of growth in this new record, and I think it comes across

Muse has unveiled a pre-order for the band's upcoming album, The Resistance, at the official group website. The album will arrive on September 14th internationally and on September 15th in the U.S., with four different versions available. In addition to a digital download and a standard CD, the set will also come in a limited edition CD/DVD package as well as a deluxe limited $100 version that will feature the record on CD and vinyl, the DVD, a digital version on USB, and an exclusive 12-inch art print.

Kiss' first new studio album in over a decade, called Sonic Boom, will be released on October 6th exclusively at Wal-Mart properties, according to Billboard. The collection, which costs only $12, will also feature the band's re-recordings of their greatest hits by the original lineup -- Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss -- which was previously available as a Japanese import, and a 2009 concert featuring current members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The cover for Sonic Boom is by veteran artist Michael Doret, who created the cover for the band's 1976 album Rock And Roll Over.
