Rock News

Theory Of A Deadman will release a special edition of its third and latest album, Scars & Souvenirs, on October 20th. According to Tunelab Music, the CD/DVD package will contain all the band's music videos, a live version of the single "Hate My Life," behind-the-scenes footage from all the shoots for videos from this album and a spoof of MTV's Cribs program called Haciendas.

Scars & Souvenirs has become the Canadian act's most successful record yet. It's sold nearly 700,000 copies, more than twice what each of the band's previous releases moved. Frontman Tyler Connolly told us he has no idea why this CD was the one that really stuck: ["I don't know, man. A lot has to do with timing, I think. I always think that our music is always great and our fans are always great, but the timing has been so amazing, just with the touring and the singles. Everything just seems to be lining up. It's just one of those things that -- you know, yeah, I can say we worked hard and made a great record, but every band works hard and puts out great records. It's just, I think, a little bit of luck, and everything's kind of clicking

The dates and venues for Saving Abel's upcoming fall road trip, dubbed the Class of 2009 tour, have been revealed. The jaunt will get underway on October 27th in San Antonio, Texas and continue until the end of the year, with dates booked so far through November 28th. Joining the headliners on the bill will be Red, Pop Evil and Taddy Porter. Tickets for the first leg go on sale this weekend (August 28th) with additional shows and on-sale dates to be announced shortly.

This is likely to be Saving Abel's last outing before getting to work on its second album. Frontman Jared Weeks says the band could use a break but isn't complaining: ["We've gone 18 months without having time off, man, so I mean, it's kind of like, you know, you do forget your address and you do forget how normal sitting down on the couch watching, you know, Roseanne at night feels, you know, but that's a good thing. You know, these guys, our fans, our people that like the music, put us where we are, so you know, we can't complain at all. This is what we wanted

Rob Zombie is getting ready for this Friday's (August 28th) release of his fourth movie as a screenwriter and director, Halloween II, doing press interviews and attending the premiere on Monday (August 24th) in Los Angeles. But Zombie somehow managed to find time in the past year to also make a new record, and told us as much as he could about it: ["Still figuring out the title. The release date is November 10th. It's a great record. It's probably my favorite record ever, because for the first time since like the last White Zombie record, I made a record with a band. You know, all my solo records have been real solo records, like, you know, there's pictures of people on the record but they didn't play on the record. This has been the same four guys now for four years and it's all of us really, we really were in a room jamming and making something, and more special things come out that way.
