Friends, fans, musicians and the entertainment industry in general are mourning the loss of Les Paul, who died on Thursday (August 13th) at the age of 94. Paul died of complications from severe pneumonia at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York.
The legendary musician is perhaps best known for his pioneering efforts in the creation of the solid-body electric guitar. His template for the Les Paul model, which was introduced in 1952, is Gibson's best-selling electric.
In addition to creating signature guitar sounds, Paul invented many recording techniques, including overdubbing, delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multi-track recording.
Chris Daughtry teamed up with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger on his latest album, Leave This Town, and he's definitely glad he did. Together the pair wrote the band Daughtry's hit song "No Surprise." And it actually comes as no surprise that Daughtry and Kroeger would team up together. Daughtry tell us it was a natural fit: ["We certainly have similar styles musically -- when it comes to writing those kind of songs. I remember when we put out the first record. I just met Chad. The record hadn't come out yet, but I was letting him hear a couple of songs. And he's like, 'I love it. It sounds like me.' (laughs). And I was like, 'Alright. Well, that's a huge compliment.' I think he's a phenomenal songwriter, and I have looked up to him for a while.
Bono's wife Alison Hewson and her business partner are suing Stella McCartney for using the word "nude" as part of the name of her new perfume, "Stella Nude," according to radaronline.com. Hewson and partner Bryan Meehan own a company called Nude Skincare.
A source close to the situation told Britain's Daily Mail, "Nude Skincare is suing for compensation, not with anything to do with the new scent but because of branding and the use of the word nude. It would be quite funny if it weren't being taken so seriously -- there are other perfumes with similar names after all."
