Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher says he plans to start a new band in 2010 now that his original group is officially over. Gallagher told U.K. newspaper The Scotsman, "Getting away from the whole Oasis thing is going to be a good thing I suppose. I don't want to do anything solo. I want to be in a band. But we can do things a lot differently these days. It'll definitely be rock 'n' roll." Gallagher added, "For now, I'll be relaxing at home, just getting out of music for a bit and then I'm going to start up something maybe after January, do something different, see where it goes."
Jack Johnson is out with a new CD/DVD set this week, called En Concert, featuring a collection of live outdoor performances from his 2008 tour -- ranging from venues in England to Germany. The cameras also caught behind-the-scenes footage, which will also be included on the DVD. Johnson is seen performing with his quartet, along with many guest stars, including G. Love, Ben Harper, Mason Jennings and Matt Costa. The companion CD features 18 tracks, including "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing," "Wasting Time" and others. There's also a song from Johnson's performance with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder at the Bonnaroo music festival.
Johnson tells us how the project came about: ["We were just on tour and then my friend Emmet Malloy, which is the same friend I used to became surf films with and he became the guy. The next thing I know we were rolling with all this stuff. Every once and while, he'd say, 'Why don't we film this show?' I always kind of just trush him.A couple of years ago, he did one at the Greek Theater so we did one there. And this time, they wanted to bring some cameras out to Europe, and that was it."]
