White Stripes, Raconteurs and Dead Weather main man Jack White has anonymously donated nearly $170,000 to refurbish Clark Park, a local baseball field in his hometown of Detroit. According to the Detroit News, the money has been used to provide the park with new grandstands and dugouts, with the article saying that White "won't talk about what he did, because he doesn't want to be the star this time." White, whose real name is John Gillis, used to play baseball at the park, where coach Morris Blackwell, Jr. said he had a "smooth left-handed swing."
Alice In Chains has posted the video for its current single, "Check My Brain," online. The track is taken from the band's first full studio album in 14 years, Black Gives Way To Blue, due out September 29th. The clip is also airing on MTV2, MTVu and both channels' website. (Blabbermouth)
Chickenfoot's self-titled debut album was certified gold last Thursday (September 10th) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of more than 500,000 copies to record retailers, according to Blabbermouth.net. The album has actually sold just over 300,000 copies since its June release. The band was formed last year by ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar, who enlisted former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to complete the lineup, which has toured the U.S. and Europe since the release of the CD.
