An insane killer was recaptured Sunday, three days after he slipped away from the staff of a mental institution during a trip to a county fair more than 180 miles away from the side of a highway where he eventually was found.
A friend gave Paul a guitar, a sleeping bag and a leather jacket and drove him out of town. It wasn't until Saturday that the friend learned of the escape. He then contacted detectives and showed them where he dropped off Paul.


Lane closures on the Route 52 causeway could cause some delays beginning this weekend for visitors who are getting used to the new traffic pattern.

The state contractor on Thursday closed the two outbound lanes exiting Ocean City on the resort's busiest entrance, keeping open just one lane in each direction.

The state promised to keep all four lanes of travel open during the summer. But now that the season is over, the bridge contractor has closed lanes to continue work on the $400 million bridge.


Agents for Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi were met with a strong-arm from a real-estate broker they approached to rent a posh townhouse on Manhattan's Upper East Side for his visit to the city this week.

St. Louis Community College at Forest Park must foot the bill after a coffee maker rigged to a faucet and left on in a photo lab led to a ruptured water line in July. About 10,000 gallons of water spilled down four floors, damaging ceilings, walls, computers and files.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the college's Board of Trustees will be asked to approve cleanup costs this week, including a $143,494 contract with a disaster-recovery company.
