Rock News

Flyleaf will begin a series of VIP listening parties for their new album, Memento Mori, on Monday (September 28th) in Seattle, according to Blabbermouth.net. The parties will feature a selection of songs and music videos from the group's sophomore effort, as well as special appearances by singer Lacey Mosley, along with guitarist Sameer Bhattacharya or axeman Jared Hartmann. Flyleaf fans were able to request that their city get included on the schedule through an online service called Demand It.

Sameer told us at last spring's Rock On The Range festival that he still feels like a fan when he gets to meet his favorite artists: ["I mean, more than half the bands today, you get that feeling. All these bands have been around and have really amazing records, you know, and it's stuff that I've been listening to for a really long time. So, you know, like, I walk around and there's Jim Root (guitarist, Slipknot, Stone Sour) sitting, you know, and we've done a few tours with Stone Sour so I know Jim Root. But even then, you know, like, I still flip out. And I saw Munky (guitarist, Korn) and it's still surreal."]

Chickenfoot's debut album will be released as a deluxe set next month. Right now it's only scheduled for a U.K. release on October 26th. There's no U.S. date yet. Blabbermouth.net reports that the two-disc set will feature a bonus DVD disc with exclusive live footage, behind-the-scenes interviews and both of the band's official music videos for "Oh Yeah" and "Soap On A Rope."

Chickenfoot's self-titled debut is now gold in the U.S. for sales of more than 500,000 copies, but drummer Chad Smith admitted that he's not quite sure who the band's audience is: ["We played this festival in Belgium, in Europe, and it was like Lamb Of God, Disturbed, Trivium, Manson -- all these like angry rock bands. And they're so white and so like angry and soulless and we're out there like (sings) 'sexy little thing...' (laughs) I was like, we're not that, but we're not like My Chemical Romance or whatever, you know, we're not that either. We're just doing what we're doing

More details have emerged about the previously announced "Trinity of Terrors" event that Slipknot will headline in Las Vegas on Halloween (October 21st). The band's performance will take place in the middle of the three-day horror-themed event, which is being presented by long-running horror magazine Fangoria. The event will run from October 30th to November 1st at the Palms Casino Resort and feature celebrity appearances, signings, screenings, vendors, exhibitors, panel discussions, special effects make-up applications, video gaming, tattooing, parties and more, capped by Slipknot's concert on the 31st. Other guests scheduled to appear include actors Malcolm McDowell and Jeffrey Combs, plus filmmakers John Waters, George A. Romero, Roger Corman and others.
