Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan will make his public debut as a contemporary artist on his birthday, September 24th, according to DesMoinesRegister.com. Crahan will exhibit acrylic paintings, framed photography, prints and Polaroids from his upcoming book, The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight at the Hotel Kirkwood in Des Moines, Iowa. The free event will also feature food, drinks and a performance by members of Crahan's side band, Dirty Little Rabbits, plus a set from Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, a.k.a. DJ Starscream.

A lawsuit brought against Coldplay by guitarist Joe Satriani, in which he claimed that the band had plagiarized his 2004 song "If I Could Fly" for their 2008 single "Viva La Vida," has been dismissed. Justia.com reported that the case was dismissed on Monday (September 14th) in California Central District Court "upon stipulation," meaning that the two parties might have reached an out-of-court settlement. Both parties were also ordered by trial judge Dean Pregerson to pay their own legal costs.

Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has refuted comments made in an interview by Korn axeman James "Munky" Shaffer, who said that Welch has asked to come back into the group. Welch says that Shaffer did not give a "complete and accurate picture," explaining, "The full truth is that for about a year, ever since Jonathan (Davis, Korn singer) publicly said he wanted me back in Korn, Korn's managers have been requesting my manager to work on getting me back into Korn. The calls were initiated by Korn's managers, not my manager. I shut the door on their requests many, many times over the last several months, through my manager. However, Fieldy (Korn bassist Reginald Arvizu) personally called me during Korn's last tour in Europe and we talked as friends for a long time. He also told me if I ever wanted to rejoin Korn, or open for Korn as a solo artist, the door was always open."
