Rock News

Nine Inch Nails finished its career as a live act on Thursday night (September 10th) at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, where the Trent Reznor-led band capped two decades of performing with a three-hour-plus, 37-song set that included guest appearances from Gary Numan, one-time David Bowie keyboardist Mike Garson, Jane's Addiction axeman Dave Navarro and hardcore act The Dillinger Escape Plan. According to RollingStone.com, Reznor said early in the show, "Well, this is it," adding during one of the three encores, "We're not going to tour anymore as Nine Inch Nails, but we're all still going to be making music."

U2 kicked off its North American 360 Tour on this weekend (September 12th and 13th) with a pair of shows at Chicago's Soldier Field. Saturday's opening night 23-song, two-hour and 15-minute set followed the mold of the band's eight-week run in Europe by kicking off with four songs from their latest album, No Line On The Horizon, before dipping into such favorites as "Beautiful Day," "Elevation" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."

Five Finger Death Punch will release its second album, War Is The Answer, on September 22nd, following the success of the group's 2007 debut, The Way Of The Fist. Unlike that first record, Five Finger Death Punch did not record this one during studio downtime and with a meager budget. The band also made its new CD after being on the road for more than two years. Guitarist Zoltan Bathory told us that all those changes are evident on the upcoming disc: ["After three years on the road together, the band became a well-oiled war machine, you know? Everybody's much tighter, we know what the other guy is thinking pretty much, so I think it's definitely a step up. I think it's a better recording and it shows, like, you know, it's not a one-man army. It's everybody's work and everybody's energy's in there. It shows."]
