Celebrity Trash

Lady Gaga, Green Day and Beyonce each won three Moonmen at the MTV VMAs last night (September 14th), but their triumph was overshadowed by drama between Kanye West and Taylor Swift. Swift was offering thank yous for winning Best Female Video of the Year at the Radio City Music Hall show when West bounced onstage and grabbed the mike: [(Swift) "Thank you so much. I always dreamed about what it would be like to win one of these one day, but I never actually thought that woulda happened. I sing country music so thank you so much for giving me chance to win a VMA Award, I ..." (cheers) (West) "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. (Boos and cheers) One of the best videos of all time!"] SOUNDCUE (:34 OC: . . . of all time!)

Beyonce looked shocked and appeared to say "Oh my God" when Kanye jumped on stage. When Beyonce later won the night's big award for Video of the Year, she graciously invited Swift back to "have her moment" as the crowd stood and cheered: [(Beyonce) "I remember being 17 years-old up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child and it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment. Where are you?" (Taylor Swift) "Maybe we could try this again? I would really like to thank Roman White who directed my video and Lucas Till for being in it and I would like to thank all the fans on Twitter and Myspace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer."] SOUNDCUE (:36 OC . . . shows this summer.)

West later apologized on his blog saying "I'M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD'VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!"
Swift said the evening was "interesting," the Associated Press reports.

Madonna opened the show with a moving speech introducing a tribute to Michael Jackson that featured dancers performing in front of a giant screen with a medley of the King of Pop's biggest hit videos.
