
30 Seconds To Mars has contributed the title track of its upcoming album, This Is War, to the in-game soundtrack of the new role playing game Dragon Age: Origins. The song is available in the game now and can also be heard in a special trailer for the game co-produced by 30 Seconds frontman Jared Leto. The singer said in a statement, "We always like to push the envelope in the entertainment and media space and debuting our title track in a game of this caliber is a great way to communicate our music to fans around the world."
Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan told the Chicago Tribune's "About Last Night" column this week that he always wanted to make it big in music and even yearned to play bass in Metallica at one point. The 56-year-old WWE Hall of Famer said, "When Metallica was looking for a bass player, I called and never heard a word back from them . . . I would have quit wrestling in a heartbeat to be a bass player for Metallica." Hogan added that he also tried to join another legendary act, revealing, "I was in England presenting an award with Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger's ex, and she told me the Rolling Stones were looking for a bass player. I sent her a ton of merchandise that she asked for and said 'Tell Mick I'm a great bass player.' I never heard a word back."
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash makes a guest appearance on the upcoming album from R&B star Rihanna, titled Rated R. Slash contributes guitar to a song called "Rockstar 101" on the disc, which arrives on November 23rd. Slash has also signed with Roadrunner Records for European distribution of his own upcoming solo album, tentatively called Slash & Friends, although a U.S. deal and release date have yet to be announced.
