The latest installment, New Moon, gets its premiere there tonight (Monday). "Twi-hard" fans from as far away as Australia descended on the neighborhood over the weekend to grab a spot and await the big event, The Los Angeles Times reports. Cardboard cut-outs of Edward and Jacob have been posted at the front of the line for fans to pose with. The movie opens in wide release on November 20th, with many showings already sold out.
Danny Devito stripped naked for the upcoming Christmas special of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The actor, who turns 65-years-old on November 17th, told Fox 411, "Well you know it is really interesting because when I signed on to that scene . . . when they said you're going to do the naked thing, I loved it."
He added, "I thought it was really great and I was gung-ho about it and then you realize that you're doing in front of two hundred background atmosphere extras. And you don't know them and walk out greased and you know, slipping and sliding with your butt out and everything."
The audience at the Governors Awards event staged by the Academy of Motion Pictures was packed with people who hope to get onto the stage in March when the rest of the Oscars are awarded. Alec Baldwin was there. Baldwin is a potential supporting actor candidate for It's Complicated, and he'll be on stage on March 7 anyway, as co-host with Steve Martin. Jeff Bridges, getting best actor buzz for Crazy Heart, was on hand, as was Morgan Freeman, who plays Nelson Mandela in Invictus. And so was newcomer Gabourey Sidibe, who's making a splash in Precious. She definitely took the part of excited ingenue at the awards show, especially after Tom Hanks showered her with praise for her role in the intense drama. Sidibe told Variety: "I have moments where I stop, look around the room and realize where I am, and freak out. So I try not to have those moments too often."
