Rock News

Muse is finalizing a spring headlining tour of the U.S., the band's first full trek here in support of its latest album, The Resistance. Dates and cities will be announced soon. The news comes as the first single from The Resistance, "Uprising," enjoys its 10th straight week at Number One on the Alternative Rock chart. Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme told us he thinks the song's politically charged lyrics strike a chord in people: ["I think, you know, so much has happened in the last five, 10 years, I think most people's opinions of governments have changed quite drastically. I never really used to question what the government in the U.K. were doing. You know, you just accept that they're there, you think that they're running the country, you think that the country's best interests are all they care about, and it's clearly not the case, you know."]

Shinedown are among the artists who will join hosts 3 Doors Down on the VH1 Best Cruise Ever, which will set sail on April 15th, 2010 from Tampa, Florida and head for Grand Cayman before returning home on April 19th. According to Blabbermouth.net, Black Stone Cherry, Lifehouse, Carolina Liar, Safetysuit and more acts to be announced will also join the cruise, which will also feature contests and other events.

The ship itself is a full-service ocean liner featuring, according to the event website, "a massive tropical resort-style pool, two dining rooms, a pizza buffet, 24-hour room service, a ton of cool bars, a great casino, non-stop entertainment, a new nine-hole mini golf course, awesome concert venues and all-you-can-eat soft serve ice cream."

Breaking Benjamin frontman and chief songwriter Ben Burnley says there's one reason why the band's new album, Dear Agony, took longer than usual to write: he wasn't drunk when he was doing it. Burnley explained it to us: ["This is the first album I've ever written or recorded sober. Before I'd be like, if I wanted to write a song, first thing I would do is crack open six beers and pound them down, and then I'd be ready to go, I'd be ready to write. And this time, I basically just had to wait for that kind of frame of mind to hit me, and then when it did, you know, I capitalized on it.
